The Winners
I’m pleased to announce the prize winners of year’s WordPress Theme Competition. However, I’d like to offer my sincere thanks to everyone who participated in the competition and helped spread the word about it. As many people have already said, real winners here are the WordPress users who have so many great themes to choose from.

This year, the judging was done by a panel of over 20 people that I selected. Each judge was asked to distribute 50 points among the designs they felt were most deserving (based on a wide range of criteria). While many entries received votes, these designs rose to the top. I will be contacting each of the above prize winners to send them their prizes.

The themes this year were absolutely astounding. I have no idea how judges could distribute the points among so many distinct designs, so statistically speaking (don’t take this literally please), anyone could be (is) a winner.

It would have been nice to see more variable-width designs amongst the winners, but then again there probably weren’t that many variable-width designs submitted to begin with. A shame, really, as fixed-width designs can often be too limiting for many projects. So all you theme developers out there… Let’s see some more variable-width designs!

The winners of the WordPress 1.5 theme competition have been announced and sadly Im rather disappointed. Its not bitterness that Mallow didnt win anything, honest. Some of the winning choices just seem odd in my opinion when compared with us losers.

There are some lovely themes, but will work be done to fix the internal problems that reside in some designs?
For example, the beautiful “Red Train” theme breaks when asked to sort multiple link categories on the side bar.

Every entrant has plenty to be proud of. The creative panache and technical knowhow on display among the whole bunch is impressive.

This has been an awesome competittion, I am a bit envious as I am running my blog off B2Evolution, which at this point is the geeky, ugly cousing to Wordpress… remember that both are descendants of the Cafelog. How I wish the two will reunite! It would be the best blogware on the market… anyway, just awesome styles, I happen to agree with the choice of the overall winner…
